POSTINOR-2 Postinor-2 Information Postinor-2 is a popular oral contraceptive that should only be used in emergency cases. Intake of this medical product is known to effectively prevent a pregnancy, provided that the 2 pills are taken in within 3 days (72 hours) after the patient has had unprotected sex. The sooner you take the pills; there are fewer chances to become pregnant. However, this medical product must not be used regularly (do not use Postinor-2 as a regular birth control method, as this product has been designed for emergency use only). After using this medical product you should avoid using other contraceptive methods as their effectiveness will be decreased. It is recommended to avoid having sex until your next regular period. Intake of this medicine does not protect the patient against any sort of sexually transmitted medical conditions. Ask your personal physician for more information about these sort of disorders. Postinor-2 Indications Postinor-2 is a well known emergency birth control pill. Patients who have recently had unprotected sex usually use this medical product in order to avoid becoming pregnant. Postinor-2 Warnings A round white pill of this medicine is known to contain about 750 micrograms of levonorgestrel. Among Postinor-2’s other main ingredients are talc, maize starch, potato starch, gelatin, colloidal silica anhydrous, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate and so on. Patients who are suffering from known allergic reactions to any of this medical product’s components must not use this medicine. Before you take this drug you should inform your personal health care specialist if you are allergic to any dyes, foods, preservatives or other substances (this includes other medical products). Before you are allowed to use a dose of this drug your personal health care specialist will have to check to see if you are not already pregnant. This means that he or she will probably ask you a set of questions regarding your periods or you might have to undergo an internal examination or a pregnancy test. Some other medical examinations might be required: for example, your personal health care provider might want to check your blood pressure. Your personal physician will ask you to come again after about 21 days after using Postinor-2 in order to make sure that your intake of this medical product has had its proper effects. If you are currently committed (involved) and you are having regular sexual activities you should ask your personal physician to tell you more about regular birth control methods. Your doctor will tell you the proper birth control method that should work best for you. In this way, you will avoid needing a dose of Postinor-2 in the future. However, if you intake of Postinor-2 has not achieved its purpose, as in, if you become pregnant, you must immediately refer to your personal health care provider, as your doctor will have to check to see whether or not you have an ectopic pregnancy. If you experience any unusual vaginal bleeding or stomach cramps you should immediately alert your personal physician. Pregnant patients should not be allowed to use Postinor-2. Postinor-2 Intake Guidelines The patient should use 1 tablet of Postinor-2 as soon as she can (but no later than 3 days after having unprotected sex). It is important to avoid delaying using the pills. The second tablet must be taken in about 12 hours after the first one. It is very important to avoid leaving no longer than this amount of time to pass between your 2 pills of this medicine. We advise you to set your alarm clock in order to make sure that you remember taking your second dose of Postinor-2 at its due time. However, if you are sick or if you develop severe diarrhea less than three hours after using this medical product you must immediately alert your personal physician, as your intake of this medicine might not work properly. Patients who are known to suffer from a medical disorder that affects the small bowel (for example Chron’s disorder) should use this medicine under strict medical supervision.
